"this wine is the result of a commitment I made to my amazing wife to pursue my passion and follow my dream. Always drink the good stuff first."

— Steve McPherson, Founder & Vinter

At the age of ten, Steve’s life took him to France, where his father stepped into the role of headmaster at the American School of Paris.

Weekends spent wandering vineyards and visiting cellars awakened Steve’s curiosity. He may not have understood it then, but something enduring lingered—the sense that the connection between people, food, and wine held a deeper, lasting meaning.

Sundays were filled with football, the aroma of garlic, and dancing in the kitchen—her father’s unmistakable way of expressing love through food.

Years later in New York while working in restaurants, Jen rediscovered that same spark as she stepped into the world of fine dining and wine. With every table she served, she saw how food and wine brought people together—creating warm connection and moments of joy.

When two paths crossed

In California, Jen met Steve at a simple backyard barbeque. He was gentle and charming; she was curious and free. Their bond deepened over long bike rides and meaningful conversations followed by delicious meals and wines. Soon, Napa became their happy place, where dreams of being vintners took root.

A promise made

On the night before their wedding, Jen asked Steve for one thing: a promise to build a life together grounded in meaning, purpose and wine. Married among the vines, they were embraced by the landscape that had shaped and inspired them.

In 2004, the same year they married, Jen and Steve made their first two barrels of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

That small beginning of 47 cases became the foundation of PROMISE: a wine guided by intention and born from the courage to pursue what truly matters.

Two decades on, PROMISE has grown into something far beyond a wine.

It is a family, a ranch, and a way of life—rooted in craftsmanship, community, and purposeful living. Every bottle carries a piece of their story, inviting those who taste it to pause, connect, and create special moments of their own.
